Card Club Challenges

Hello All,
I've been working on some fun things for the blog, but first-some bad news. I've decided to dissolve the Card Club Challenge. Why? There's a lot on my plate and I've been struggling to do it all. I think this is for the better, but it was a tough decision. I'm hoping this will help me to focus on all of the other projects I have going on right now that are demanding my attention.

But there's good news as well! If you still want to see awesome card challenges, check out Dee Dee's blog,(for which I am one of the designers) where she holds them weekly!

No worries-there will be enough craft content to go around:)

Card Challenge 7 Requirements

We've made it through challenge 6, great work!

Next Challenge: For the next to weeks, your challenge is to create a birthday card for a child. It must include an animal in some form or another (it doesn't have to be the main focus) and you must stamp one thing on a patterned paper somewhere on the card. I expect you all to kill me with cuteness, and I can't wait to see what you come up with!

Card Challenge 6 Results!

Results from Card Club Challenge #6! In this group, we create a card challenge every two weeks. The person that decides the challenge requirements then tags the next person. If you want to see other's challenge cards, check Dee Dee and Skyler Rae's blogs.

Here is what I came up with:


The challenge was:
Theme: "Remember When"
Requirements: any type of nostalgic idea/feeling/sense you have, and at least 7 embellishments (for a collage feel).

I think of this card as a "remember when" for a couple in love. For the first time they said "I love you" to one another.

The embellishments I used were handmade paper and sewing, stamps, marker, brads of all sorts, prima flowers, raffia bow, and a funky paper clip.

Later today I will announce the next challenge and tag the next designer! Stay tuned!

Card Challenge #5

Here's my card challenge results! The challenge was to use black white and one other color. I chose yellow, since it's my favorite:)

Supplies: Black, white, yellow and patterned cardstock, button brads, Forever Friends stamp, ink, marker, colored pencil and a touch of handmade paper made by me!

Card Challenge #4 Requirements!

Now on to the next challenge! For the next two weeks, you need to create a flat notecard. Something that you could use to pass a note to a friend, tuck inside a gift bag, or tell your S.O. you love them. Your only requirement is that it must be flat-you can use any size you want, but keep in mind that you will still need to be able to write on it, so bulky embellishments might not work so well.
I used funky fibers to create dimension without adding bulk to the front of the card. This was designed to look like a postcard, the back is blank white for writing your message. I added bulk by adhering heavy cardstock to the middle, so even though this is a notecard and not a folded card, it still feels substantial. I might mess with the fiber a bit to push it away from the lettering on the stamp, but other than that, I'm pleased with the result.

Card Challenge #3 Results

Our challenge for the last two weeks was to create a monochromatic card, using 2 different patterned papers. I have to say that I really enjoyed this challenge. Here are my results:


I used Where the Heart Is/My Mind's Eye papers by Zoe Pearn, two different ones of course! And a stamp from the Boards and Beams stamping set from Papertry Ink, embossed in white. I think this would be an excellent card to give someone who just moved, or just purchased a new home.

Card Club: Second Challenge!

Sorry about the crappy quality of these photos-It's cloudy and rainy out, so I had to resort to my desk lamp as lighting-so yellow




The Card Club Challenge for this week was to create a birthday card using primary colors. This was much more difficult than I thought, but I tried to create a lot of dimension with my card. The Happy Birthday is backed with paperboard, making it thicker, and the blue accent strip is very textured like corrugated cardboard. Finally the red backing has glossy polka dots on it-which I felt added to the party theme.

I was down to the wire on this one! Check out the other submittals by SkyleRae (also the creator of this particular challenge) and Dee Dee!

Card Club: First Challenge!

Welcome to the card club! Whether you are here to check out the first challenge, to join the club, or just to look, enjoy!



Here are the details:
1. Each member is required to create one card every other week, following the guidelines given. I will start with posting a blog containing the first set of requirements as well as my card. The requirements can be anything: has to have blue on it, must be larger than 4 x 5.5 in size, designed from an inspirational photo, etc.
2. Whoever writes the guidelines for that week tags another person-there doesn't have to be any order in who you tag. If you are participating, please comment so we can add you to the tag list!
3. You will have two weeks to complete your card. If you are tagged to write requirements, please have the requirements ready by the end of the two weeks, so everyone has ample time to make their cards.
4. Post your pictures on your blog and comment to the person who sent the challenge with a link to it. This part might get confusing-we can work this out once we get started. The group will decide-do we want this on one main blog? Do we want it to jump to each person's blog? Do we want everyone to post all the cards every two weeks? We will need to make some decisions.

And now...onto this week's challenge (no bug eating or tight roping necessary)!

Your first challenge is to create a card for a friend-no specific rules on that, it just has to be designed as something you would send to a friend, and it must be spring-themed. I'm looking for bright, happy, colorful cards, folks!

Here's what I came up with:



This card started out with a kraft paper base. The paper with the grass was a perfect pairing with the tree cardstock you see on the left (and they're both 70% recycled papers, which makes me a happy camper).



I stamped, embossed and colored the Thinking of You portion...



And embellished the bottom right with Prima flowers and button brads. I'm pretty proud with how it turned out.
