Card Challenge #4 Requirements!

Now on to the next challenge! For the next two weeks, you need to create a flat notecard. Something that you could use to pass a note to a friend, tuck inside a gift bag, or tell your S.O. you love them. Your only requirement is that it must be flat-you can use any size you want, but keep in mind that you will still need to be able to write on it, so bulky embellishments might not work so well.
I used funky fibers to create dimension without adding bulk to the front of the card. This was designed to look like a postcard, the back is blank white for writing your message. I added bulk by adhering heavy cardstock to the middle, so even though this is a notecard and not a folded card, it still feels substantial. I might mess with the fiber a bit to push it away from the lettering on the stamp, but other than that, I'm pleased with the result.

Skyler, you're next!

Good luck on this challenge and happy crafting!

New Etsy Line: Handmade Cards!

Check out this new line I've created for Etsy! I wanted to create a product that was fun and used up scraps of handmade paper (reduce, reuse, recycle) and to serve as an idea for the use of handmade paper that you can get in my shop (if you want to buy colored handmade paper, go here).

Use these cards to brighten up a friend's day or to tell that special someone how much you love them.

Each card is made using either card stock or kraft paper (recycled), adorned with a stamped element with handmade paper scraps sewn to the front. The handmade paper gives the cards great dimension! You also receive an envelope with each card, as shown in the images.

Stay tuned! Tomorrow will be the first post of Our New Place: The Pantry!

Enjoy!

Back to School

I love fall. My favorite part is that it is all about change. It's about each day being different than the last. It helps to break me out of my funks and repetitive routines.

I also love that with fall, comes school-freshly sharpened pencils, whiter-than-they'll-ever-be-again shoes, books. Ahh..I just love it. But I also love crafts. What could be better than marrying these two ideas?

I'm not in school anymore, but some of my friends are still in college-so I decided to make a very special friend a gift! I was really excited about this.

This gift was sent out just last week, so I wasn't allowed to post it until the lucky girl received it!
This special friend received two sandwich bag pouches, with velcro closures for ultimate re-use and hand embroidered apple details. But no gift is complete without a lovely handmade card-so I made one of those to match.

Finally on the ball with something, I couldn't have been more proud. I hope she enjoys it as much as I did making it for her (I may have debated whether or not to send the gift or to keep it-only to test it out indefinitely, though).

Handmade Valentine's Day

So, I was thinking about Valentine's Day, which makes sense, but I was thinking that I have no clue what I'm doing for the boy! I feel bad because he deserves a lot, but I don't have a lot to give. However, I have a strong opinion that handmade is the way to go, and I know he likes that anyways.

So I'm trying to think....I will surely make him a card, and I must make it extra special. Then what? He's not much for candy, and he's one of those "purpose" people. He likes for things to serve a function or have a use. I'm pretty sure we were going to make lasagna (may not be a romantic food to most, but it's like our anniversary dish...I made it the first Valentine's Day we were together, couldn't cook well then...not much better now)

Here's the list so far:
card
lasagna

hmm...needs something else. But what? I have some ideas brewing, but nothing amazing yet. If you think of any, let me know:)

What are your plans for Valentine's Day?
