Hanging Lake Part Two

Here's more pictures from our hike this week.

We hiked a little further once we saw Hanging Lake and tried to get under the waterfall. We got pretty far.

Then we backtracked a little bit and hiked up to Spouting Rock. This is the original water source for Hanging Lake-it's an aquifer that's flowing out of the mountain. We were totally able to walk under this waterfall.

We hiked further and were able to look over the edge down to Hanging Lake-sort of get an aerial view of it all. It was breathtaking. You can see the boardwalk that's around the lake. This was taken from above.


Why I love Boyfriend: I told him I needed a picture with my sock in progress. He doesn't ask why, he says "Well I'm going to focus on the sock, the waterfall will just be a blur in the background, okay?" That's a man with his priorities in place. (if you don't understand why someone would take a picture of sock knitting, go to the Yarn Harlot's blog).


We had a blast.


I'm already planning our next hike-this one was SO much fun!

Adventure: Hanging Lake

Boyfriend, his mom and I went on a hike yesterday to Hanging Lake. If you live in CO or you're visiting, I highly recommend going here. It.Was. Amazing. This is what you see as you're walking to the trailhead (you don't hike this part, this is just the background..but really? Beautiful!).


Boyfriend took some amazing shots. I named him photographer for the day. I was the lens cap assistant (very important role, don't you know...).


I spotted this little guy moseying up the hiking trail. We helped him to the side, so he wouldn't get injured by any hasty hikers. Isn't he the coolest Halloween caterpillar ever? Boyfriend says he's seen them before, but this was a first for me-very cool.


And since the girls over at the Fancy Tiger blog were talking about seeing some elf houses in Iceland, I thought I'd share with them that those elves must vacation in Colorado. Here's proof! True to their Icelandic nature, they like staying at a place with ice-cold lakes. Makes sense.


And this is what everyone hikes to see: Hanging Lake.

Washington DC: Library of Congress

After the Eastern Market, we went to the Library of Congress, sort of by accident (we needed to use the bathroom, we didn't realize we were stumbling onto such beautiful architecture!). We ended up staying for a while and taking lots of pictures.


The outside of the Library of Congress was creepy...what's up with the angry faces?


The inside-breathtaking. Boyfriend tried to teach me how to use my camera on manual before I left, and these are the pictures I got-you should have seen the ones on auto-not good. I'm actually pretty proud of myself, but I know the camera skills need some work still.\

Washington DC: Eastern Market

Sorry for the delay...we're back on track now. Now, on to the D.C. portion of our journey...

We arrived in DC, grabbed dinner, and crashed. The next morning, My sister and I went to the Eastern Market, which was definitely a highlight of our trip.







If you see a Marvelous Market while traveling, I highly recommend checking it out-great atmosphere. I got a pumpkin spice chai latte that was divine.

Next up: The Library of Congress!

Baltimore: Inner Harbor

Last week I ventured to Baltimore and Washington DC with my older sister Jen. We had a blast and it was an amazing trip (still recovering). I give you: our adventure!

I arrived in Baltimore on Thursday, rode the light rail and the metro (subway) to the hotel, and vegged out. It was nice.

The next day, Jen had to go to work and I was on my own. I ventured to the Inner Harbor.

I saw some wildlife (he was not interested in me whatsoever, I had no breadcrumbs)...



...visited the Power Plant (a cool spot to check out if you're in the area)...



...and enjoyed life at sea (from the sidelines, of course).



It then started to rain, then pour...so I sought shelter in a Barnes and Noble (which is how I ended up with The Bell Jar, and proceeded to read half of the book and drink a delicious mocha while waiting for my sister to rescue me).

Then we ventured to DC-which I will share with you tomorrow.

The best 22nd birthday I've ever had...

Hello there!

I thought I'd share with you all on this lovely Friday what I did last weekend! On June 5, 2009, I turned 22...I know, I know....girls aren't supposed to share their age, but whatever. Anyhow, after watching the movie "Up"(have you seen it? Go see it..so cute), the boy and I decided that we needed to start our adventure NOW. So I booked a cabin for the weekend in Estes Park. At my work, you get the day of your birthday off, and 50 bucks-not a bad deal at all. So we took a long weekend, and went for an adventure. It was lovely.

The cabin was teeny, yet cozy.

The hike, ABSOLUTELY beautiful.

The company, couldn't have been better.


The food, delicious.
And the locals, SO friendly.

Here's to hoping that you have a wonderfully adventurous life!
